From picking equipment to making basic espresso, latttes, cappucinos, cortados, and flat whites.
This event is the first in our series on making amazing coffee at home. We will host advanced classes after a couple 101 classes (no worries if you miss this one), so take a 101 class if you want to attend advanced classes like latte art later.
We will host drip/pourover/iced coffee classes later so if that is your interest, the espresso classes aren't necessary - stay tuned for future events.
Schedule:
(First 15 Miutes)
1. Espresso machines and grinders - what to look for and what to avoid, quality tradeoffs at different budgets
2. Coffee accessories that are useful (few) and coffee accessories that are useless (most of them)
3. Choosing good beans to start learning (don't be a rookie and buy pre-ground coffee)
(Rest of session - Your turn on the machine!)
1. Pouring a good shot & troubleshooting a bad shot - how to adjust by sight and taste
2. Steaming and foaming milk for steamed milk drinks (latte, cortado, flat white) and foamed (cappucino)
Notes
If you are vegan or lactose intolerant let us know and we will provide oat milk.
Let us know of cat allergies.
We'll have a piece of paper to sign in for attendants. If you can't attend - cancellation deadline is 10/28. Please cancel by then so people on the waitlist can attend.
Dress Casual (jeans ok)
