The University of Chicago Booth Investment Club (UCBIC) began in 2019. Since its inception, membership donations have contributed toward a fund portfolio to benefit the University of Chicago Booth School of Business Executive MBA Program. While the fund is managed and trades are executed by the University of Chicago Investment Office, the investment decisions are that of the Club, with guidance from an external advisor.
Whether you're a seasoned investor or barely getting started, this student-led group aims to promote finance and investment education opportunities for its members. As a member, you can look forward to investment sessions and networking opportunities with industry leaders, periodic newsletters written by a professional investor, and portfolio simulation challenges to pressure test your latest investment theories.
In late spring, a group of your classmates volunteered to take over the club from XP-91. The fund got beat up over the past 9 months, and we are very excited for new ideas to get the fund back to strong performance. We also want to bring a superior engagement experience back to investment club members and will be re-instating the speaker series, the newsletter and have been working with the University to potentially establish a scholarship that will be given in the name of the winner of the portfolio competition.
We will be conducting a kickoff during electives week, followed by a brief membership drive and then we'll begin in earnest to plan for the 6-7 month investing cycle from November to May 2023. Stay posted!
