Leadership Development Coaching at Booth

Coaching serves as a foundational component in our approach to leadership development and is customized to meet each student's individual needs. Specifics for each coaching program are outlined in a coaching agreement, which is a separate document.

Working alongside a Leadership Development Office (LDO) Coach allows you to deepen your self-awareness, explore your interpersonal effectiveness, and understand how varying environments impact your leadership practice. Your coach serves as a thought and accountability partner as you pursue your most effective and authentic ways of leading.

LDO Coaching Approach

Coaching in the LDO is a collaborative partnership between you and your coach designed to accelerate your development, identify and make progress toward your goals, and define your leadership practice.

Our inclusive approach is:

  • Person-Centered: Honoring the experiences that brought you to today and deepening self-awareness through the exploration of personality, behavior, culture, and identity
  • Partnership-Driven: Cultivating mutual trust throughout the entirety of our coaching engagement that is focused on your priorities and supports your goals
  • Action-Oriented: Using insight to generate action as part of the development process; growth requires taking action and using that experience as a catalyst for meaningful change
  • Industry-Agnostic: Providing expertise on the developmental process of coaching, which remains useful regardless of your chosen career path
  • Research-Based: Utilizing evidence-based methods and concepts from the fields of education, management, organizational behavior, and human development

Partnering with Your LDO Coach

LDO coaches wholeheartedly believe in your capacity to meet the leadership challenges you face and look forward to partnership with you. To develop this partnership, it helps to understand what each person brings to the sessions throughout the coaching life cycle.

The table below outlines the partnering roles and is based on the OSCAR coaching model (The OSCAR Coaching Model : simplifying workplace coaching, A Gilbert, K Whittleworth – 2009)

Coaching is an iterative process; it is not linear. Although attention is given to setting outcomes at the beginning of a coaching engagement, you and your coach might cycle through any of these phases at any time, based on what's needed to make progress.
