Welcome to the Group Philanthropy Initiative Fall Investor Week!

Dear BSI current and alumni members, fellow Boothies, and community members passionate about social impact:

Across the University of Chicago, students, faculty, and alumni are rallying to face the COVID-19 crisis together. As part of that effort, BSI needs your help meet our $10,000 goal for our student-led Group Philanthropy Initiative (GPI).
Today is the first day of our Fall push to grow this impactful gift to our community,

This Investor week we will be highlighting the events we've held to date, what our programming plan is through the end of the cycle and how you can make a difference. Investors from all backgrounds (students, alumni and community investors) are welcome - and please consider making a personally impactful gift by purchasing as many "tickets" as you want to invest in social impact.

Our kick-off meeting went over important details of the Initiative highlighted below - and the event recording can be accessed through the links on the sidebar.

How does GPI work?
GPI works by amplifying the impact that we all would have as individual charitable givers - and gives you the opportunity to experience what it is like to be a philanthropist. By pooling our individual contributions of at least $100, we can make a significant difference for a non-profit.

Who does the grant go to?
As an investor, YOU will get the opportunity to vote on who receives the grant after a presentation in mid-May. Following issuance of the RFP, Booth students will form a Due Diligence committee to narrow the applicants to finalists from which an organization will be selected by all investors. If you're interested in joining the Due Diligence Committee, see the link on the left.

Who has received the grant to date?
The Booth community has contributed to the Youth Job Center's and I Grow Chicago's success through our unrestricted grant.

What's in it for you?
In addition to helping our South Side community, you will also get free access to the remaining GPI related programming and get a vote after the finalists' presentation. Programming has included a panel on Measuring Social Impact and evaluating Nonprofit Financials in the past.

Alumni Members - please join us on LinkedIn to connect with fellow Boothies.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email  Cassy Horton, Alvaro Papa Silva, or Kait Williams.
