Supply chain is among the most complex and consequential systems in global business. From sourcing raw materials to last-mile delivery, every decision carries financial, operational, and increasingly, environmental weight.

In this session, join Luke Greenfield from trü frü (Mars Wrigley) as he talks about how leading CPG companies think about supply chains through a sustainability lens and how it is treated as a source of competitive advantage.

Topics could include carbon accounting frameworks (Scope 1, 2, and 3), how sustainability initiatives get prioritized and funded, and how real business trade-offs (cost, regulation, brand, and scale) shape decisions, and career pathways for supply chain and/or sustainability.

Senior Manager External Manufacturing

Mars Snacking

Luke Greenfield is a Regional Warehouse Transformation Manager at Mars Snacking, where he leads initiatives to modernize and optimize Mars’ North American logistics network. His work spans the automation, network design, and strategic optimization of distribution centers supporting more than $10 billion in annual sales.

Luke oversees cross-functional projects that deliver cost savings, improved customer service, and greater operational resilience through data-driven network design and next-generation automation. Over his six years at Mars, Luke has held roles in engineering, manufacturing, and innovation. He previously led Mars’ warehouse automation strategy for North America,

deploying the company’s largest automation installation at a 1.3M sq. ft. facility generating $2M in annual net savings. Earlier in his career, he developed a patent-pending manufacturing process that reduced energy usage by 75% and labor requirements by 25% and this process is now being scaled globally across Mars’ network. He has also led manufacturing teams responsible for iconic brands such as Snickers, Milky Way, Dove, and Three Musketeers. While leading these manufacturing teams, he drove Lean Six Sigma initiatives to reduce operational costs while also owning production performance, his team’s safety, and product quality.

Before joining Mars, Luke began his career at PepsiCo’s Quaker division, where he managed operations and logistics for high-volume snack production lines, leading a team of over 60 union employees. These experiences have given him a deep understanding of manufacturing excellence, supply chain optimization, and supply chain transformation.

Luke earned his MBA with Honors from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, with concentrations in Corporate Strategy, Entrepreneurship, and Finance. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Food Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

He lives in Chicago, IL with his wife Megan and enjoys volleyball, tennis, and spending his free time outdoors.
