Green Soapbox Panel Discussion on Climate Refugees

Delta Institute, a non-profit whose mission is to solve environmental challenges throughout the Midwest, invites members of the Booth Corporate Sustainability Club to an educational event “Green Soapbox” hosted by Delta Institute's Associate Board!

Why it matters?
According to the UN, about 122 million people lived forcibly displaced from their homes in 2024. Researchers estimate that this number can grow to 1.2 billion people being forcibly displaced by 2050 as a result from climate change impacts like droughts that trigger food insecurity, conflicts over access to water, and the impacts of intensifying natural disasters round the globe.

These challenges have many more people asking questions like: What role will Chicago and the Midwest play in climate migration patterns, and what can we do today about it?
