Shedd Action Day: Beach Cleanup
Registration
Registration is now closed (this event already took place).
Details
We will be joining Shedd Aquarium staff and other volunteers to help with a beach cleanup at 63rd Street Beach. We will be given bags, gloves, and a litter monitoring form for the cleanup, which will last about an hour. We will finish the beach clean-up by tallying up our litter totals and submitting the forms, which Shedd staff will enter into a database of materials found in clean-ups across the Great Lakes that is used to inform decisions for policy and effective coastal management.
In addition to the beach clean-up, we may also be able to help with habitat restoration by hand pulling and bagging invasive plant species, such as sweet clover and horseweed, or seed collecting.
We will meet at Gleacher at 9:15 am to carpool down to 63rd Street Beach, the cleanup starts at 10 am.
Feel free to slack Diana Sanborn or Brian Carrier with any questions.
