Dear MFG Members:

Our radio silence has gone on for far too long!

The MFG leadership torch has been passed and we would like to officially introduce ourselves as well as outline a few initiatives and events we are looking forward to hosting in the coming year. We want these efforts to be highly collaborative and are open to any and all suggestions so please don't be shy in reaching out to brainstorm new ideas!

At a high level, we would like to transform the MFG into a thought leadership platform that allows Booth students to 1) interact with other students and faculty on economic issues outside the classroom and 2) engage with the broader University - events outside of Harper do exist!

In pursuit of these broad initiatives, we are in the process of organizing the following events:

  • Booth student debates (open forum or through partnership with other Booth groups)

  • Lunch-n-Learns with economics faculty members to discuss their ongoing research

  • Talks from thought leaders outside the University

  • Group social (best for last)

To increase the level of engagement within the group, we intend to distribute a bi-weekly newsletter providing information about MFG sponsored events, campus speakers outside of Booth, and any relevant economic news/developments.

Please feel free to reach out with questions or ideas. We believe the MFG can serve a unique purpose within the Booth community but can’t do it without your engagement!

Onwards and upwards!

Gaspar, Michael and Simon

Upcoming Event:
05/13 EMERGING MARKETS DEBATE

The time has come to settle it once and for all: Which one of the Emerging Markets should Boothies focus on?

In order to find out, we are hosting a student debate with the representatives of their respective regions fighting for the right to take home the title 'Best Emerging Market'!

We will start at Harper and relocate to Ida Noyes for frosty beverages  after the debate!

Have you ever wondered what it is really like in the different Emerging Markets? What is it like to live and work there?
Join us for first person accounts from our fellow classmates rather than highly academic analyses!

There will be food provided during the debate!

The audience will determine the winning region!

Winning regions get plenty of frosty beverages!

Everyone continues the fun discussion over more frosty beverages!
