Guest Speaker - Michael Armstrong, '02, Viacom International Networks (Mon. May 16th) 

Michael D. Armstrong is Executive Vice President and General Manager, International Brand Development, Viacom International Media Networks. In this role, he is responsible for identifying new market opportunities to launch BET, Paramount, and Spike internationally in addition to overseeing the strategy, branding and operations of those launches. Michael will be speaking with Booth marketing faculty member Oeystein Daljord about his path and how Booth helped him get where he is today. Register here for the May 16th event, which will take place at Harper 104 from 11:45am to 12:45 pm. Fireside Chat - Kelly Linstroth, '09, Chicago Cubs (Tue. May 17th) 

Join MESG and CWiB in welcoming Kelly Linstroth, '09, who is the Assistant Director - Relationship Marketing at Chicago Cubs. Ms. Linstroth will be hosting a small group discussion sharing her insights on her experience working within the sports industry as a Booth alumna. TPG's Pro Scout School (Mon. July 11th - Tues. July 12th)

For those seeking careers in sports or sports media, TPG's Pro Scout School conference in Las Vegas offers first-hand insight into the world of professional basketball. Sessions include the GM experience (a conversation with two NBA general managers), the president/CEO experience (discussions with individuals running the business side of NBA teams), the media & broadcasting experience, and the sales & marketing experience.

Amazon Video Direct Takes On YouTube

Amazon has come after YouTube with its launch of of Amazon Video Direct. Partners include Conde Nast Entertainment, HowStuffWorks, Samuel Goldwyn Films, the Guardian, Mashable, and Mattel. Amazon is pitching its video service offering to content creators as a way to reach its scores of online shoppers with four different distribution options. Read more here.

Facebook Is Launching A Branded Morning Show

Facebook is partnering with ad agency DigitasLBi to launch a new live-streamed morning show. Called "Rise and Shine," the show will feature a mix of local weather, workouts, recipes, and other talk show fare. The native advertising play will feature content sponsored by client brands of DigitasLBi. Read more here.
