The E/W Booth Healthcare Club has a mission to enhance students' understanding of business functions, trends, and careers that exist in the healthcare sector. The sector accounts for 1/6 of the nation's GDP and is extremely complex due to the existence of many players:
-Payers (insurance entities) like Medicare, BCBS, Cigna, etc.
-Providers (places of diagnosis/treatment) like the University of Chicago Medical Center, clinics, etc.
-Suppliers of products (pharmaceutical or medical device companies) and services (e.g. EHR and operations/revenue management companies) to payers and providers
-External factors such as the FDA for regulatory approval and HIPAA for privacy and protection
BHC provides a medium for students to learn from and network with alumni, faculty, and other industry leaders in healthcare.
